I bought these for my husband, he wears an AFO foot and ankle brace on one foot and the other has problems with edema and diabetic foot sores. Both feet are hard to fit but for different reasons. If he finds shoes to fit one foot, they're often too big or too small for the other foot. It's a nightmare to buy new shoes or try to find a different style from the ONE style boot he found 6 yrs ago that fit, so he wears the same boot (same style, different pair) every single day, to work or to weddings, to the barn or to the opera (if we went to the opera). It's not ideal, but there really isn't anything ideal about living with problem feet.Anyone who is considering this shoe knows what I'm talking about, is well aware of how hard it can be to find shoes that fit properly, that don't cause pain or worsen whatever foot problems you already have. For my husband, this is that shoe! They are VERY EASY to put on! No more struggling to get them over the brace, and they are highly adjustable with velcro tabs on the sides. (And the velcro is SUPER STRONG and very LOUD when opening!) The top and sides of the shoe open up completely, flopping forward to leave the shoes wide open so you basically just "step in". Then close it up and adjust the tightness of each shoe to fit each foot. The only negative comment from my husband was on appearance. They aren't as attractive on as they are in the picture, especially if the size of your feet is noticeably different. My husband and I agree that it would be better if the thread was the same color as the shoe. When you have bad feet, the last thing you usually want to do is draw attention to them, so contrasting thread isn't really a desirable feature. (One star deducted for that.) Still, if you have foot problems that make it very difficult to find shoes that are wide enough and easy to get on, definitely consider giving these a try, they could be exactly what you've been looking for!
