These are my first clipless shoes and these are very comfortable and the build quality is exquisiteThis shoe fits well and is true to size. They are appropriately stiff when pedaling but comfortable to walk in. They look great too.I don't cartwheel over products. The more expensive the item is, the more I expect from it, so the less I fetishize it. I might lose my mind over a $20 flashlight that turns tents bright as daylight, but $150 cycling shoes better hold up, be comfortable, and go the distance. These definitely do. The BOA is sturdy and so much nicer than the ratchet ties on my old Specialized. The velcro across the bridge is a little short for my average feet, and I feel that they should have left it long so that it can be trimmed. The backs of these are fragile. I can tell. Don't be a dummy and kick them off or do that thing where you put one of your feet on the back of the other to pry them off. You'll ruin them in no time. Also ensure they're adequately loose when putting them on. That should keep them going for quite a while. For the folks saying that they're not stiff enough, that's ridiculous. They're plenty stiff. If you want stiffer in a mountain biking shoe, you'll be hard pressed. Cleats stay in place, shoes aren't too hot, width is OK, and the BOA performs. Good shoe, worth the price so far.As with all cycling shoes, I ended up with a half-size larger than my usual shoe size. I wear a 9 in Clarks, Sanuk, Ariat, Saucony, and Thursday Boots, and the 9.5 (43 in UK) fits perfect. Its been many years since I purchased a new pair of mountain bike shoes. I was skeptical of the ratchet retention system on these, but must admit it is really nice. Fast and comfortable. These are mountain biking style cycling shoes, with a well defined sole, suitable for comfortable walking. They are designed for installation of two-screws cleats, which can be either SPD, or very similar in shape Crank Bros. Cleats are recessed, which can be of a huge advantage if one needs to walk in these shoes, especially at home. We have an indoor bike trainer, and the last thing I want is the damage to our hardwood floors. Recessed cleats on MTB style shows prevent the cleats from touching the floor when walking, but do not interfere at all with clipping in or out. The sole is sufficiently stiff. This, of course, is not a high end road cycling type of shoe, and not even a high end MTB shoe, but it is more comfortable out of the box than many more advanced brands, and works great for indoor cycling and non-pro level outdoor cycling. Price is reasonable, quality is good. The insole is a thin flat piece of foam, I guess if your foot is perfectly flat no problem. I need some arch support so I replaced with a insole and after the first ride all is well. Time will tell if they hold up. I am a size 10 and bought 44.Finding cycling shoes that are true to size is an issue that I deal with every time I am in the market for a new pair of shows. These shoes fit perfectly with no noticeable weight difference from my previous shoes. The velcro straps allow for quick adjustment to loosen or tighten. Toe box is plenty wide for my shoe size. I would recommend these for those that need a walking shoe in the event of break down on your bike trip. They are decent shoes for a mellow ride. The Boa doesn’t hold your foot in as well as a ratchet type. The sole is a little flexy and not stiff as my last gyro’s. Over all there not bad.Perfect! But do remember to get a number bigger than your usual!!Bella scarpa
