There are a lot of things that go into a shoe feeling comfortable. I don't want my toes cramped, and that is generally not a problem. The problem for me centers around the ankle and heel. A lot of shoes are not padded enough around the ankle, and it catches me right under the ankle bone. I can't wear a shoe like that. For the heel, it is the heel slipping when you walk. These shoes are top notch at dealing with all of those problems. The ankle and tongue area are very padded, so there is no hard edge to hurt your ankles. When you tie them up, they are locked in. The ankle is very secure and comfortable, and the heel doesn't budge. That goes a long way towards being a comfortable shoe for me. The laces are a part of this equation. They have little silicone nubs about every half inch, and when you pull them tight, they stay put. No backsliding while you are tying them. The same nubs keep your shoe tied pretty well. The square toe part is a little harder to judge. Part of the claim is it allows your toes to spread more naturally. With the original insoles, I actually found that they felt a little restrictive around the little toe area. I wear orthotics, so I compared my insole with the Squairz insole. Squairz was wider at the end of the shoe, but actually narrower around the little toe area. My orthotic is fairly rigid, so when I inserted it in the shoe, it expanded that area a little. With my orthotics, these are a great feeling shoe. Tight around the heel and ankle with zero slippage or pain, and roomier around the toes. I really like that combination. The original insole is pretty thin, and not much of an arch. Walking around the house, it didn't feel very cushioned. However, when you are on turf, that is a non-issue. As far as traction goes, I would give them a good, but not great score. When I played in heavy dew, the spikeless part of the soles quickly filled up with grass clippings. That eroded traction. On my dryer rounds, that didn't happen. I honestly like the amount of traction. My feet slide a little during my swing, and shoes that grab really hard sometimes cause me a problem. Hard for me to say how much the square toe affected much other than roominess. My swing is not that fine-tuned, but maybe a little better balance when you are up on your back foot toes at the end of the swing? I will have to leave that judgement to others. Sizing runs a little large. I normally wear size 12, but their sizing tool recommended size 11.5. At first, I thought they may be a little small, but that feeling went away when I inserted orthotics and got out on the course. They were very comfortable from the first round on. So, these are a very comfortable shoe, with a fit I really like. I was mildly skeptical at first, but square toe or not, these felt great out on the course. I have another golf shoe that is really comfortable for me, but these kicked them to the curb.
